Thought for the Day

"It took me fifteen years to discover that I had no talent for writing, but I couldn't give it up because by that time I was too famous." -- Robert Benchley 1889 - 1945

What about Book Awards?

Does it make sense to submit your books for awards?

Absolutely!

When you do, and when you win, you can promote yourself as an "award winning author". What about that? It doesn't get any better, does it?

The Savvy Bookmarketer has a great article that you should read:

Book Awards and Writing Contests for Authors

Check it out and see if any interest you. Remember, most entry deadlines are around the first of the year. So, get cracking!

Thought for the Day

"A writer lives, at best, in a state of astonishment. Beneath any feeling he has of the good or the evil of the world lies a deeper one of wonder at it all. To transmit that feeling, he writes."

William Sansom 1926-1976

Well, well, well.. look what the cat dragged in.

Little ol' me.

Did I stay retired very long? Noooooooo!

What did I do while I was supposed to be retired? Well, I did travel. I did play with my grandchildren. Sadly to say my container garden isn't much to look at. My pets still adore me, whether I'm with them or not. I've turned 50+. I've had many hospitalizations for various things. But, I'm better now. God willing, and the creek don't rise. If you've never heard that saying, well, what can I say, I'm sorry.

But, I've decided to resurrect this blog and see what I can do with it. I've been very busy with books and have two coming out this month. OUT FOR JUSTICE and GOOD INTENTIONS. I'll make announcements for both at their release time.

I've added a new page on Facebook for my author site.
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Vicki-M-Taylor/

I hope the link comes through. If it doesn't work, let me know, ok?

I have a twitter account now. So you can follow me at @VMTWriter

I hope that works for you too. If not, let me know.

And, finally. I'll leave you with this little bit of advice:

"It's taken me all my life to understand that it is not necessary to understand everything." -- Rene Coty

In those humble words, I can only add, I never did understand why I retired. I did it because I could. I guess I didn't really need to.

Big Retirement Announcement

BIG RETIREMENT ANNOUNCEMENT!!

To all my fans, family, and friends. I've so appreciated your support and love throughout the years as I've traveled the winding and sometimes lonely path of writer. You've put up with me not returning calls, not cooking or cleaning, and dashing to the computer at a moment's notice no matter the time of day or night with more text for my story.

It's like saying good-bye to an old friend who's passed on. I'll find things to do to fill my time. I've already discovered the fun of container gardening. I have three grandchildren now. They are keeping me rather busy! More traveling is in the works! I have a good circle of girlfriends who I adore. My dog, Jack and my parrot, Bailey are very happy that their "Mommy" gets to spend more time with them!

I've discovered the love of reading again, for the enjoyment of reading. Instead of editing all the time! What fun!

And, best of all, my husband and I get to spend more time together.

Love to you all,

Vicki M. Taylor
